What to expect?

We will travel to your location and facilitate the circles on-site. The typical program will run approximately 45 minutes. Our staff will engage the seniors in a fun and interactive activity which has positive therapeutic benefits. These programs are rhythm based and involve drumming, singing and gentle body movements. We try as much as possible to keep a steady flow throughout the event and we use a variety of simple patterns and songs to achieve this with the population. The drumming program works well with a mixture of low to high functioning individuals. All individuals will be encouraged to participate by drumming, shaking the shakers, clapping the hands, head movements, toe tapping and singing. Any staff or audience will also be encouraged to get involved.

How much does it cost?

We use a sliding scale, prices will vary according to the location, the number of times you commit to having us in and the length of each program. We can provide you with a pricelist upon request.

What do we bring?

Each program includes 20 special-needs drums, 20 drum beaters and a couple of baskets full of percussion instruments (shakers, bells, croakers, tambourines etc.) We also demo feature instruments from the wide selection of products which we carry to keep the interest of the population.

What types of equipment do we use?

We use African styled hand drums that have been modified into floor models; these drums do not require the seniors to hold on to them or the use of bulky drum stands. Each drum is fitted with aesthetic features in order to catch the visual attention of the players. Natural goatskins are used on all the drums to produce a nice warm tone in addition to promoting an earthy feel within the group. Drum beaters are supplied for all participants which can be used to extend the players reach or for people who have difficulties using their hands on the drum. All our percussion equipment is lightweight, interesting and easy to play.

What are the requirements of your staff?

You will be required to have at least one staff member present at all times for safety concerns and also to show staff participation within the event. Staff will also need to insure that the seniors are set-up and ready to drum at the designated time.

How many people can attend?

Technically speaking we could facilitate up to 40 people but smaller groups are recommended to provide more one on one and let everyone get a chance at experiencing the different equipment. If more people show up they can always watch and get involved by singing or clapping.  The program welcomes all participants and works wonders for seniors in various stages of dementia, alzheimer's disease, stroke survivors and other cognitively impaired individuals. We request mixed groups but if you would like us to work with specific groups and individuals this is also possible.

What other facilities do you work in?

Many facilities in your community are already taking advantage of our beneficial and unique drumming programs. We currently service facilities in London, Strathroy, Woodstock, Ingersoll, Stratford, Kitchener, Waterloo, AilsaCraig, Elmira, Dundas, Hamilton and St.Marys. Letters of reference are available upon request.

Okay how do we get started?

Call or email us to book an introduction session. This will allow you and your staff to assess the value and effectiveness of our program. After this we can sit down to discuss a regular drumming program in your facility and negotiate a price that works well for us and is within your budget.
