The Owner -  Primordial Percussion is owned and operated by myself, Cliff Patton. I am a selftaught drummer, drumbuilder and workshop facilitator. My style is fun, educative and full of energy.  Primordial Percussion reflects the philosophy and values I put into this company; "Primordial"; meaning the very first or primal one; "Percussion"; meaning any two objects which when struck together create sound. So Primordial Percussion literally means "the very first sound".  We as humans can all relate to sound and rhythm at some level.  The heartbeat is the very first sound we hear within our mothers womb and we all continue to have that endless heartbeat within. In fact if you look into the life that surrounds us you will clearly see that all things are in motion and all motion creates sound.  People that say they have no rhythym are simply mistaken; they have not thought into the idea deep enough to see that we all do have rhythm and even more; we simply are rhythm

The Drum Circle - I have hosted 1000's of drumcircles over the past several years.  I basically learned from trial and error; I can proudly and confidently say that I now have one of the best earned reputations in the business.  My style is vibrant, energetic and mystical.  All my programs allow everyone to have there own drum to play. Within seconds I will have everyone drumming and feeling good about the event.  I simply love drumcircles and I do not let myself forget that it is the community, the participants and all of us which make it happen.  I coach, inspire and allow a little playfulness into the event so people don't take life to seriously. We are very busy these days and have even hired another full time facilitator to fill in some of the gaps.

The Drums - Our drums are either made directly here in Canada or they are imported  from Africa. We are careful in our dealings with importers to insure that our products are manufactured with care for the earth and the people of the earth. We have some of the highest quality djembe drums imported from Ghana, Africa.  We do not deal with middle men our product is made by a small family based business who have only four other customers in the world. (California, Japan, England and us here in Canada). All these drums are custom made with the best quality skins and ropes available on the market.

  • Goatskins are from BurkinaFaso.  I don't care what anyone says, I have tried many skins and these skins are tough, vibrant and produce the best quality sounds.
  • Ropes are from Japan. Once again not your average ropes.  Modifed hiking accessory cords make these ropes hold up for a lifetime.
  • Shells are from Ghana.  Harvested from the backbush and brought into the city for the fine carvings and skin mounting.

The Percussion -  I am really excited about our new line of percussion products coming out this year.  You have probably seen us croaking those crazy little frogs at the shows and making a hell of a racket with the drums.  Coming this winter we will have a full line of unique sound products imported directly from the biggest drum factory in Indonesia.  Some of the items include rainsticks, digeridoos, various shakers, ocean drums, kid's percussion packages, drum bags, drum stands and drum straps.  The styles and quality of these will not be comparable to anything you have seen before so be sure to check out the site for the latest stuff frequently.

WE COME HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !

Thank-you for coming to Southwood Secondary School to perform a guest speak with your collection of drums.  As always we love the presentation and the kids go crazy for it, they looked forward to it so much.  Primordial Percussion was the kids absolute favorite part of the summer, and we went to a BlueJays game! Your program is so unique, it is nice how you allow them to go wild and express themselves freely.  Thank-you once again, we hope to see you again next year at our 2007 Summer Day Camp program.
Kelly Obrien/Program Development Coordinator (Southwood Community Centre)

I have had nothing but positive feed back from the residents who noticed how you even used the beat of the fire alarm to keep rhythm with your drum. It was also rewarding to watch the faces of our residents who told me they enjoyed being able to participate even if it meant just clapping their hands. You should be proud to have instituted such a worthwhile program. Absolutely enjoyable
Thanks again...Randy Fuller (Valleyview Long-Termcare Activation)

We extend our highest gratitude for you both coming and allowing us to have such a wonderful and spiritual experience. I'm sure most of the women will travel home with a rhythm in their heads. Thankyou again so much.
Your friends at the Lung Association.
